For those of you who don’t know me, in addition to my photography business I have a part time office job where I’ve worked since I finished college. The office staff there is small and pretty close-knit. I’ve worked with Larry since I started there in 2006. He and Christine (who everyone calls Chris) have been together for seventeen years and finally decided to tie the knot this year. Larry and I have a shared interest in photography and I was happy to be included in their wedding day in this way. They planned a small ceremony at Riverstone Chophouse that included lots of family and a few friends, many of which traveled a long way to attend. The ceremony was followed by a big backyard shindig the next day. Larry and Chris decided to do a first look so that we could do all of their pictures before the ceremony. Vintage Tavern, the sister restaurant of Riverstone Chophouse, made for a beautiful setting for some of their pictures. Here are just a few pictures from their wedding day. Congratulations Larry and Chris!
Meagan and Brian just recently moved from Richmond, Virginia to Austin, Texas. Why, you ask? Well, they wanted to live somewhere different and Austin seemed like a cool place to go! I’ve lived most of my life in Hampton Roads and I really admire people that get up and move just to try something different. I’ve never had a reason to move anywhere else, but I guess you don’t really need a reason when it comes down to it! Anyway, I met up with these two at a Starbucks in the Outer Banks where they were vacationing and I just happened to be shooting a session. When I met them, I could tell immediately that they are both warm and genuine people. Their wedding in Manteo next spring is going to be beautiful! Meagan and Brian came back home for a visit after their big move and we planned their engagement session around that weekend. Originally the session was scheduled for Friday, but when the day came and the forecast called for rain most of the day, we moved it to Monday, just before they would head back to Austin. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate with us on Monday either, but we made the most of it! We got about 20-30 minutes into the session and it started pouring! We sheltered under umbrellas and eventually made our way back to the pedestrian bridge, where we spent some more time since it was blocking most of the rain. We managed a few more shots in front of Main Street Station before we ran out of daylight. Enjoy some of my favorites!
It makes such a big difference to me when I feel like I really connect with my couples. One of the highlights of what I do is showing up to weddings and being greeted as a friend. My second shooter and I spent a couple of days in Malvern, Pennsylvania for Lauren and Trevor’s wedding and everyone made us feel so at home. I can’t tell you how many times we were encouraged to have a good time or asked if there was anything we needed. I’m there to serve my couples and it always amazes me when they stop to think about ME. I think it just goes to show what awesome clients I have! Lauren was a bridesmaid in Krissy and Kyle’s wedding last year and it was a joy to work with her again. She and Trevor are the kindest people and I’m so happy they asked me to be their wedding photographer. There were so many beautiful moments during their day and I’m excited to share some of my favorite images! Congratulations Lauren and Trevor! Special thanks to my second shooter Sarah for road tripping with me and doing a fabulous job as usual!

Much of Danielle and Ryan’s story takes place in Portsmouth. It’s where they had their first date at The Bier Garden. It was on the waterfront that Ryan asked Danielle to be his wife. And it was where they exchanged vows on a rainy Saturday in June at the Renaissance Hotel. The ceremony was planned to be outside with the Elizabeth River as the backdrop, but stormy skies moved everything inside. There is so much thought and planning that goes into a wedding day, but just as in life, sometimes we have to be flexible and roll with it! Danielle and Ryan were excited and positive, even while hiding under an awning with me when the downpour started again during portraits, even while doing bridal party pictures in a busy lobby, and especially when they became husband and wife in an upstairs ballroom of the hotel. They had classy navy blue details with sunflower accents and pops of coral. All the guests danced and celebrated into the evening with these two. Storm clouds or not, it was a beautiful day! Congratulations Ryan and Dani!

Now that Justina is a married lady, I can share her bridal portraits! I had a great time hanging out with her and Jason’s parents during her session. Bridals are just one more chance for me to get to know my clients and of course photograph a gorgeous bride, which is one of my favorites. Justina was stunning in her Pronovias gown and beautiful veil. I’m so grateful to have met this Mississippi gal and be a part of this exciting time in her life!
