Kaleigh + Louie {Engagement} First Landing State Park

I’ve loved Kaleigh and Louie since our first meeting. They are incredibly kind people who don’t sweat the small stuff. Those are my kind of people! We had their engagement session on our calendars for a while. With them living out of town, it takes a little more planning on their part to make it happen and sessions aren’t easy to reschedule. When the weather forecast took a turn for the dreary going into the weekend, we kept a close eye on things through the day of their session.  The hourly forecast went from “it’s going to rain all day long” to “it will stop raining for a while just in time to get the session in” and then to “it’s going to start raining again sooner than expected,” so we moved their session up an hour or so and went for it! I’m so grateful that these two were up for anything, included finishing their session in the rain. I think it actually ended up being pretty romantic! I’m so looking forward to their wedding next month! I hope you enjoy some of my favorites from their session!

Rachel {Senior} Old Dominion University

Nick and I have known each other since we were in middle school, so that means I remember Rachel, his youngest sister, when she was 4 or 5. Thinking back on that, it’s CRAZY that she is about to graduate from college. She has grown into such a beautiful woman and is so much fun to be around. She’s super smart and hard working and it’ll be fun to see what the “real world” holds for her! Also, she was on the dance team at ODU and I’m so glad we got to take a few pictures on Foreman Field! Congrats Rachel! We are all so proud of you!

Savannah {Senior} College of William & Mary

It’s not often that I have the opportunity to take pictures for a college graduate rather than a high school senior, but I was thrilled when Savannah asked if I could take some for her! She is a super sweet girl who I know from the youth group that Nick and I work with. It’s hard to believe it’s already been four years since she went away to college, but she’ll be graduating from the College of William and Mary next month! William and Mary has a beautiful campus, so I was more than happy to travel to Williamsburg for the session. It was a gorgeous spring day and I loved spending some time with her (and Tia who helped!). Congratulations Savannah! Here are a few of my favorites! View full post »

Liz + Kyle {Engagement}

I met up with Liz and Kyle at Fort Monroe on a beautiful although unseasonably warm fall afternoon. As one of my last scheduled portrait sessions before taking some time off for maternity leave, I was excited to go out on a good note and I wasn’t disappointed. We found some really pretty spots and Liz and Kyle were so much fun to work with. They love to laugh and have fun together, which is always fun to capture. I’m looking forward to their wedding in the spring! I hope you enjoy a few of my favorites!

Megan + Alan {Wedding} Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts

beth-hamilton-photography-megan-alan-downtown-suffolk-center-for-cultural-arts-wedding_075Once I found out I was pregnant in April, I wasn’t planning on shooting any weddings past September of this year. But when Megan contacted me later in the spring and talked about how important photography was to her, I decided to alter my plans a bit. It’s always wonderful to work with clients that care a lot about their pictures! We talked through plans for the big day and made sure to set aside plenty of time for outdoor portraits after the ceremony, but sometimes things don’t go according to plan. That was definitely the case for Megan and Alan’s wedding day as hurricane Matthew made its way toward Hampton Roads. However, in spite of the increasing wind and rain throughout the evening, these two had huge smiles on their faces. Sure, our plans of outdoor portraits went out the window, getting from the church to the reception was a challenge, and getting home was an even bigger challenge, but Megan and Alan became husband and wife and that’s what really matters! Thank you both so much for including me in your wedding day! I hope you enjoy some of my favorites! Oh, and a small part of the day that I loved was the creative way they got Megan to the back of the church without going outside. Be sure to look for those images!  View full post »
