Connie and Ramon planned an intimate wedding for a Wednesday evening at Steinhilber’s Restaurant in Virginia Beach. The ceremony was set outside overlooking the Lynnhaven River at sunset. The reception featured beige and copper details and of course a delicious dinner. With no bridal party, we went straight into portraits after the ceremony and made the most of the beautiful evening light. The sky went from shades of orange and pink into blues and purples, which reflected beautifully in the water. One of my favorite parts was at the beginning of the ceremony. I loved the anticipation on Ramon’s face as he watched his bride walk down the aisle. Connie and Ramon, thank you so much for choosing me to document your wedding day! It was beautiful and you were a joy to work with. I hope you enjoy my favorites! View full post »
I always love when couples have ideas about locations for a session, particularly when it’s somewhere that’s special to them. Caitlyn and Matt have part of their session at Lubo Wine Tasting Room. It’s where they had their first date and has since kind of become “their place.” I definitely need to go sometime. I hear the mac and cheese is awesome! We started off their session there and then headed to an outdoor location nearby. I loved spending some time with them, hearing the details of how Matt proposed, and meeting their dog Gunner (he was so excited to be there that he ended up only having a short appearance in the session!). Their January wedding at the Chrysler is going to be wonderful! Caitlyn and Matt, thank you for choosing me to be your photographer! I’m so excited!
If there’s one thing I can say about Justin and Laura after spending their wedding day with them, it’s that they love to have a good time! They had an absolute blast with their friends and family that day, whether it was partying it up with the bridal party on a bus around the city or dancing the night away at the reception. I’ve been excited about this wedding ever since Laura mentioned stopping by the monuments for some pictures before the ceremony. That’s not an opportunity I get everyday! When we stopped in front of the Lincoln Memorial, the sky was absolutely perfect for some midday portraits. Also, I’ve never seen so many tourists taking pictures of a bridal party! The girls wore royal blue dresses, which I’m partial to since that’s what I chose for my own bridesmaids. The Army Navy Country Club was an incredible venue. You could even see the Washington Monument from a balcony! I knew Justin in high school, so it was fun seeing him and so many other Suffolk folks up in DC. Laura and Justin, thank you so much for choosing me to document your wedding day! Here are a few of my favorites. I hope you enjoy them! View full post »
Lisa and Rodney had a beautiful, intimate wedding ceremony on the back patio at Vintage Tavern in Suffolk. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Most weddings that I shoot are huge celebrations, but this event was a wonderful reminder of the most important thing about a wedding day: two people who love each other promising to be there for each other for the rest of their lives. Lisa and Rodney were simply glowing with excitement. They are such a classy couple. Lisa looked positively stunning in her silver sequined dress and Rodney made a very handsome groom! Their attire was perfectly finished with florals by the fabulous Kelly Gish Floral designs. Vintage Tavern is a beautiful location for portraits, so I was excited to shoot a short portrait session with the two of them afterward. Lisa and Rodney, thank you so much for choosing me to document your wedding! Congratulations!
This sounds pretty simple, but I love it when you can tell a couple makes each other happy! This is definitely the case with Becca and Clay! I love shots that look super comfortable and relaxed and they nailed those, but their smiles are so genuine and I adore all the joy that is present in their images. Their engagement story is a sweet one. At Jockey’s Ridge in Nags Head, they sat down on the highest dune they could find. After doing a devotion together, Clay asked Becca to be his wife. Their wedding next July is going to be a great one! View full post »
